For nearly a decade, EPCOT guests have taken to the skies with Soarin’ Around the World, gliding over famous landmarks and breathtaking landscapes from across the globe. But now, Disney has announced that this beloved version of the attraction will soon take its final flight.
Beginning May 13, 2026, Soarin’ Around the World will officially close at EPCOT’s The Land Pavilion, making way for a limited-time reimagining of the attraction in celebration of a historic milestone: America’s 250th birthday.
The new experience, Soarin’ Across America, will debut on May 26, 2026, inviting guests to take an all-new journey from sea to shining sea.
A New Flight Across the United States
Disney Imagineers are developing a brand-new film for the attraction that showcases the beauty and diversity of the United States. Just like previous versions of the ride, guests will soar high above some of the country’s most iconic destinations.
While the full list of locations hasn’t been revealed yet, Disney has already teased a few highlights. Expect sweeping views of natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, along with unforgettable flyovers of iconic American cities such as New York.
Of course, the elements that make Soarin’ so magical will remain.
Guests can still expect:
- The suspended hang-glider style ride system
- The sweeping orchestral score
- Immersive scents that match the landscapes below
- Stunning aerial cinematography filmed specifically for the attraction
In short, it will feel familiar — but with an all-American twist.
Part of Disney’s “Celebrate America” Campaign
The new attraction is part of a larger “Disney Celebrates America” campaign that will run throughout the summer of 2026, leading into the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Disney has hinted that the celebration will include:
- Special America250 merchandise
- Potential patriotic character costumes
- Expanded fireworks celebrations
One confirmed highlight is the return of the fan-favorite “Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. The show will run July 3–5, 2026, giving guests three chances to experience the patriotic spectacular.
A Nostalgic Return for Soarin’
For longtime Disney fans, the concept of Soarin’ Across America may sound familiar.
Before Soarin’ Around the World debuted in 2016, the original version of the attraction was Soarin’ Over California, which flew guests over famous landmarks throughout the Golden State. That version became one of the most beloved attractions in Disney Parks history.
While the new EPCOT film will feature locations across the entire United States rather than just California, it does represent something of a return to the ride’s roots—celebrating the landscapes and spirit of America.
When Should You Ride?
If you’re a fan of the current version of the attraction, you still have a short window to experience it before it disappears.
Final Day for Soarin’ Around the World:

Opening Day for Soarin’ Across America:

Given Disney’s history with attraction updates, it wouldn’t be surprising if soft openings or preview flights happen in the days leading up to the official launch.
A New Perspective for EPCOT
Soarin’ has long been one of EPCOT’s most beloved attractions, offering a peaceful but exhilarating experience that appeals to nearly every age group.
With the upcoming U.S. Semiquincentennial celebration, Disney seems ready to give guests a brand-new way to experience the country’s beauty—while keeping the spirit of the original attraction alive.
So whether you’re chasing the scents of orange groves, gliding past towering canyon walls, or soaring above glittering skylines, one thing is certain:
The skies above EPCOT are about to feel a little more red, white, and blue.
